March Madness

We have a problem...

This last month there has been a little too much basketball going on in this house. Jack has an obsession with SportsCenter and will happily watch highlights with Jed for as long as we will let him. He has been known to throw the remote at his victims head demanding BALL! And he can throw tantrums better than Bobby Knight.

Not only does he watch basketball he plays some serious crib hoop.

Oh yeah-Jack says to go with Kentucky

7 Days

I remember, as a little girl, embroidering towels that had kitties doing their daily chores. Monday was sewing day, Tuesday was laundry day etc. Well here are my own little "kiddies" doing their weekly chores.

Monday-Gardening

Tuesday-Dusting (re-shelving the books)

Wednesday-Organizing

Ella, what have you taught Jara?

Thursday-Baking

Hooray for rolls that actually turned out (considering I forgot an egg) and if you're thinking-ha those look like crap, well you should see the rolls that don't turn out. It's a work in progress.

Friday-Laundry/washing

The washing

The folding-Ahhh milestones, she can now fold towels and washcloths. Yipppeee. On to socks next.

Saturday-PLAY

He really is happy in this picture, he was making one of his creature noises hence the cranky looking face, besides he had his own bowl of chips, how could he not be happy? (The key to containment, since folding chairs do not have 5-point harnesses.)

Sunday-REST

Rock'n It

We have got a lot of mileage out of these trusty sand castle building tools. They go everywhere with us, and are used in some way every time we go outside.

Nice outline

Recognize this? Hint-start singing to yourself "the circle of life."

Yes, he is actually walking on his own now, I was only helping due to the sand. (of course)

This is Jara doing her gymnastics/penguin slide-flop moves.

Happy, Birthday, Valentine's, President's Day

I like efficiency, killing 2 birds with one stone, you get the idea. So we celebrated jed's b-day, v day and pres day all-in-one, in the Golden State

Newport Beach sunset. Normally I give Jed a bad time for being ADD and not enjoying being lazy on vacation but on this trip I was the one with the problem. This picture was not the classic romantic walk-along the beach pic. 5 minutes before this was taken I was kicking Jed's bootie at cards. Who does that? I must be getting old or non-romantic or both? hmm

My first Ferris wheel ride. Notice the intense look of concentration on my face. I have to stay focused when facing my fears.

Ready for LOST.

My serene meditation pose, aka smoke monster snack

Balboa Harbor

A brief break in our biking journey.
My favorite things about CA...
  • Palm trees-I really LIKE palm trees, all kinds. If I were a tattoo kind of girl I'd surely sport a palm tree. Wait maybe I already have one and you don't know. hmm hahaha You will never know.
  • Carpool Lanes-I think MV needs one, so I can avoid following giant motorhomes with Idaho license plates down the boulevard going 35 mph. Or other vehicles with similar problems in the winter months
  • Beach Cruiser Bikes-you just can't pull that off in the raging NV desert
  • Giant Fly Ramps-that would be one of Jed's things, I close my eyes when we drive on one, which is one of the many reasons I am not allowed to drive while in California
  • Mexican Food aplenty-who can ever have enough chips and salsa?

Complete

It's official. The newest part of the 215 Beltway is finished! Y'all can quit cursing the traffic and road construction crews. The ribbon cutting ceremony was yesterday and there was a little piece on the nightly news you can check out. (watch the video that's where you will see the tall, skinny guy.)

It wouldn't be that exciting, but Jed's company were the contractors for this job. Jed lovingly took temperatures of cement for weeks last year during Christmas. He has pored hours of details and paperwork into this huge project. You always admire something you understand better. Road construction fly over ramps and various other infrastructure are now true works of art to me.

It's always good when you are on the news and it doesn't involve criminal activity or disaster.

Happy Birthday Jed!
